
The media campaign launched by Wiener Linien during Euro 2008, entitled “Footballer on the bus”, not only served to attract attention to the city, but it even won 2nd place at the Transport Media Awards.

Every day, we transport more than two million passengers; during the EURO 2008 championship, we actually carried up to 800,000 additional passengers per day.

Work on extending the U2 underground line was completed after just five years. The 3.7-km long extension links Vienna’s inner city with the Ernst Happel Stadium. The new Stadion station represents an innovative approach to operations and maintenance.
