Wiener Linien has always felt it its duty to lead the Company with an eye on sustainability. Without wanting to put too fine a point on it, the more often Vienna’s population use public transport, the easier it is to protect the environment. This means: fewer traffic jams, less stress and lower emissions. How nice that Vienna can breathe easily with Wiener Linien.
Wiener Linien is highly ambitious. By 2020, the percentage of journeys made by public transport in the capital city should rise to 40%. The more comprehensive the public transport network is, the easier it will become to leave the car at home. To this end, Wiener Linien continues to invest in extending its underground lines. This goes hand-in-hand with making new urban (development) areas accessible.
For this reason, Wiener Linen has also introduced a range of measures to make travelling by underground, bus or tram even more attractive: modern, comfortable trams, dedicated bus lanes and optimised schedules are just some examples of this.
